Raleigh Mayer, the Gravitas Guru and principal of Raleigh Mayer Consulting, is an executive presence advisor and coach, as well as speaker, specializing in communication, presentation, and leadership development.
She is currently a senior fellow at the Logos Institute for Crisis Management and Executive Leadership, and on the faculty of Barnard College’s newly created Athena Center for Women’s Leadership.
A frequent lecturer at Columbia University’s Master in Business Administration programs, Raleigh has served as a coach for New York University’s Stern School of Business, and has been an adjunct professor of marketing and management at NYU for more than 15 years.
Raleigh has counseled and trained scores of business executives, serving a wide variety of enterprises including financial, technology, law, non-profit and public interest groups.
In her previous position as vice president and spokesperson for the New York City Marathon, Raleigh provided strategic counsel on all press and publicity for corporate sponsors, and was instrumental in the exponential growth and development of the event.
In addition, Raleigh is an official emcee for the J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, and has served as a cable television commentator for the MSG Network. She has been a featured guest on CNN’s Larry King Live, Martha Stewart Living Radio, and other national news and feature productions, and a contributor to “Reputation Management: The Key To Successful Public Relations and Corporate Communications” (Routledge 2007) and “PR News’ Media Training Guidebook Vol. 2” (Access Intelligence 2009).Recently appointed a board member of the Financial Women’s Association, Raleigh is also a founding member of Women in Sports and Events, a professional organization for executives the industry, and performs in the “Broadway at the 92nd Street Y” community chorus.
A native New Yorker, Raleigh received a B.A. in English with a concentration in Theater Arts from Middlebury College in Vermont, and was first employed as a reporter for Park East News, a Manhattan culture monthly. She has had several dozen letters to the editor published, in business journals such as Crain’s and Inc. Magazine, and in almost every section of The New York Times.
